Rajab Al Musharraf

Mallam Abdullahi Hafiz

Rajab is one of the four months declared sacred by Allah in the Holy Quran.

Special prayers and Aa'maal that can be prayed and carried out on any day or daily for this month reached us on the authority of the Holy Prophet (S.A.). Imam Ali (A.S.). Imam Ali AI Zaynul Aabideen (A.S.). Imam Jaa'-far As Sadiq (A.S.) and Imam Saahibuz Zamaan (A.S.). are given below:

( i) The month of Rajab, in its superabundant favours and benefits, reverence and sanctity, is next to none. It is linked to Almighty Allah as Shaabaan to the Holy Prophet (S.A.) and Ramzaan to his Ummah.

(ii) Whoso observes fast (even one day) during the month of Rajab gets Allah's pleasure.

(iii) Ask forgiveness and turn repentant to Allah as much as you can because mercy drops from the heaven like a gentle rain in the month of Rajab (also known as "As'abb"--pouring out, full of love and kindness).

( iv) Allah shall forgive and have mercy on him who recites:

ASTAGHFIRULAAHALLAD'EE LAA ILAAHA ILLAA HUWA WAH'DAHOO LAA SHAREEKA LAHOO WA ATOOBUILAYH

[I ask forgiveness of Allah, who is "There is no god save He, and no other; has no partner"; and I turn repentant to Him],

A'AMAL UMMU DAAWOOD On15th of Rajab

Fatima mother of daawood learned this a'amal [special prayers] from Imam Ja'afar bin muhammad Assadiq [AS]. She was Imams foster mother [wet nurse who suckled the Imam in his child hood ]. He put this a'amal in writing and gave to her when she came to him for safe return of her son ,Dawood ,from the prison in Iraq where he was held captive by Mansoor Dawanaqi . The holy Imam told her that as soon as this a'amal [which contains the Ismillahil a'azam ] was completed Divine mercy would emvelop the a'amal doer and under its own power fulfil every legitimate desire of the supplicant. She did as was told . Her son ,Daawood was at once set free with compensation for wrongful comfinement…

pls. refer back to your prayer book for details of the a'amal…
